✅ Yapı:

would rather (+ V1)
would sooner (+ V1)

🔹 Örnekler:

  • I’d rather stay at home tonight.
    👉 (Bu gece evde kalmayı tercih ederim.)
  • I’d sooner go for a walk than watch TV.
    👉 (TV izlemektense yürüyüşe çıkmayı yeğlerim.)
  • We’d rather not talk about politics.
    👉 (Politika hakkında konuşmamayı tercih ederiz.)

🔹 Yapı farkı:

would rather + V1 + than + V1
would sooner + V1 + than + V1

Örnek:

  • I’d rather drink coffee than tea. ☕
  • I’d sooner travel by train than fly. 🚄

🌿 2️⃣ Would Prefer

Would prefer, “would rather” ile aynı anlamdadır ama biraz daha kibar ve resmidir.
Aradaki fark “to” kullanımıdır.

✅ Yapı:

would prefer + to V
would prefer + noun

  • I’d prefer to have fruit juice. ✅
  • I’d prefer fruit juice. ✅
  • I’d prefer to stay at home rather than go out.
  • I’d prefer to read instead of watching TV.

“instead of” bir edat (preposition) olduğu için arkasından gelen fiil -ing alır.

Genel tercihlerde (her zaman geçerli olan, alışkanlık gibi) kullanılır.
“Would rather” ise özel durumlarda tercih belirtir.

✅ Yapı:

prefer + Ving / noun
prefer + Ving / noun + to + Ving / noun

  • I prefer coffee to tea. ☕
    (Kahveyi çaya tercih ederim.)
  • I prefer walking to driving.
    (Araba sürmektense yürümeyi tercih ederim.)
  • She prefers studying in the morning.
    (Sabah çalışmayı tercih eder.)

🔹 Örnekler:

  • Would you rather have tea or coffee? ☕
  • Would you sooner eat pizza or pasta? 🍕
  • Would you prefer to sit inside or outside? 🌿

👉 Bu sorular kibar bir tercih sunar:
“Hangisini tercih edersiniz?” anlamındadır.

👥 6️⃣ Başkalarının Eylemleri Hakkında Konuşmak

Bu durumda, fiil past simple (V2) formda olur.
Yani “şimdi ya da gelecekle” ilgili konuşsak bile would rather + V2 kullanırız.

    (Taksiye binmeni tercih ederim.)
  • I’d rather our children didn’t watch this film.
    (Çocuklarımızın bu filmi izlememesini tercih ederim.)
